Six Ways to Easily Get Free High Quality Backlinks
This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my full Disclosure for more info.
Many new bloggers fail to understand what a backlink is and why it is such a critical aspect of a successful SEO campaign. Backlinks are known as the building blocks of SEO and they are defined as incoming hyperlinks from one webpage to another.
In the last couple of years, a lot has changed in the field of SEO. One thing that hasn’t changed is that backlinks still remain essential to the ranking of a webpage. Google has, however, strengthened the quality of backlinks that are considered acceptable in SEO. There was a time when even low-quality backlinks were acceptable in helping a website rank. However, with the rollout of Google’s Penguin Algorithm, low-quality backlinks are now penalized by search engines.
There are two different types of backlinks that can be created: dofollow links and nofollow links. Dofollow links are links that are favored by search engines. These are the links we need to create in order to get link juice and rank higher in search engines. Nofollow links are links that are not followed by search engines and do not help boost the ranking of a website.
Many bloggers don’t realize just how to easily get free high quality backlinks to their website by spending less than 30 minutes a day creating backlinks. There are plenty of ways to get backlinks that will not be covered in this post, such as guest blogging or trying to find broken links on other websites. The reasoning for this is that methods like these require too much time and effort. In this post, I hope to offer you 6 easy ways to get free high quality backlinks with little effort.
Creating backlinks to your website is the most important aspect of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). For this reason, it is important to get a basic understanding of SEO before implementing the strategies in this article. I’d suggest reading how to jump-start the SEO process and SEO mistakes even SEO experts make before you start creating backlinks to your website.
Before we get started, there is one tool that I particularly wanted to mention called Serpbook. Serpbook is a great tool to track just how well your keywords are ranking in search engines, such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo. Creating backlinks to your blog articles should help your articles rank higher in search engines and Serpbook will help you track just how well those articles rank for their particular keywords.
Now, let’s get started on the 6 ways to get free high quality backlinks to your website.
Submitting your Site to Website Feedback Sites
Submitting your site to website feedback sites is perhaps one of the quickest and easiest ways to get backlinks to your website. Almost all of the website feedback sites allow you to create dofollow links to your website. Website feedback sites are also a great way to get reviews from other users.
For the longest time, I didn’t want to use website feedback sites because I was afraid of receiving negative reviews. Don’t let this bring you down. The negative reviewers are only trying to help you make your website better. The reviews I have received have been nothing short of helpful. I have used these reviews and incorporated them into my blog to make it even better. Reviews are a great way to help you update and/or improve your website for the better.
Some really great website feedback websites you can use to get your website reviewed are:
You might think your website is great, but there are always improvements to be made. You’d be surprised by the mistakes that other people can catch. Give website feedback sites a try. You won’t regret it.
Submitting your Website to Blog Directories
Nowadays, we all want our blogs to gain publicity. With hundreds of thousands of blogs on the internet, this can be a tedious task. There are many ways to build backlinks to your website, but none of them are as easy to implement as submitting your website to blog directories.
The benefits of having your website listed in blog directories are that:
- You will be increasing the visibility of your blog by generating more traffic.
- You will be developing an audience that regularly visits your website.
- Your website will be indexed faster in search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing.
As great as blog directories are, the blog directory you submit your website to matters. There are many blog directories that can be found by simply googling “blog directories.” However, not all of these blog directories are of quality. When it comes to blog directories, remember that it is quality over quantity. Don’t just submit your website to whatever blog directory you can find. Do some research on the directory first.
Some blog directories require payment in order for your website to be listed on their directory. Submitting your blog to these directories can be a complete waste of money if the directory is of low quality.
Commenting on Commentluv Blogs
This is by far my favorite way to create backlinks because it is so simple to do. Most commentluv blogs create nofollow backlinks. These aren’t the type of backlinks that will add any link juice to your website. Simply googling “dofollow commentluv blogs 2017” should give you a great list of commentluv blogs that create dofollow backlinks.
Some website authors using commentluv will not allow you to use commentluv unless your website is SSL certified. Others may not allow you to take advantage of commentluv unless you have a certain number of comments on their blog. Commentluv blogs are blogs that reward the comment author by automatically placing a link to their last blog post at the end of the comment. By default, commentluv will link to the last blog post of the commenter; however, the commenter is able to choose from any of their 10 recent blog posts to display when commenting.
If you want your blog to be commentluv enabled, all you have to do is download the Commentluv plugin. It’s a great way to encourage your audience to comment on your content. In return, your readers will be rewarded with a backlink to their website (that is assuming they have a website of their own).
I always encourage visitors to comment on my blog posts, which is why this blog has been commentluv enabled. Be sure to leave your questions, comments, or concerns in the comments below. I do personally read all of the comments I receive.
Posting on Do-Follow Forums
This is also another really easy way to create backlinks. Try to find forums that are closely related to your niche. One really easy way to do this is to go to Board Reader and search for a topic of interest, or specifically one related to your niche. Board Reader is basically a search engine for forums. Try to find at least 5 forum websites that are related to your niche, create an account, and become a regular commenter on those forums.
Make sure that the information you contribute to these forums is valuable and relevant to the topic of discussion. Most forums do have a strict policy about spamming and if these policies are not enforced, you may get banned from that forum. The way to obtain a backlink from forum websites is by adding a link to your website within the discussions. Any link you decide to insert into the discussion should be relevant to the topic.
Many forums allow you to insert a link through a signature that is placed at the end of a comment. Some forums have a policy where you need to earn a certain reputation within a forum in order to be able to add a signature that contains a link. Your reputation within a forum is based on how much value you add to the discussions that you choose to participate in as well as how active you are on the forums.
Before you get started with forum marketing, make sure to read the rules of the forum. Some forums do not allow you to place affiliate links or links to your website directly into the forums. If you break the rules, you risk being temporarily or permanently banned from the forum. You may receive a warning from the forum owner, but continuous violations will get you banned.
Video Sharing Sites
Creating videos along with your blog content is a highly effective way to promote your website. It takes just one good viral video to successfully promote your website, but this isn’t the only benefit to sharing videos on video sharing websites. The other benefit is that most video sharing websites allow you to create direct dofollow links to your website.
Here is a list of video sharing websites that allow dofollow links back to your site:
Start by creating an account with as many video sharing sites as you can find. After creating an account, some websites may allow you to place the link of your website on your user profile page. Other websites may allow you to place the link of your website in the description of the video. If the video sharing site allows, try placing your link on both the profile page and in the description of the video. For further promotion of your website, you may also include the name of your website in the actual video.
Slide Sharing Sites
Slide sharing websites are a great way to create high quality backlinks to your website. These websites aren’t very frequently used by many online entrepreneurs because very few people have the motivation to sit down and create PowerPoint slides. Creating PowerPoint slides is not the most enjoyable task especially if you are a blogger. However, creating PowerPoint slides can definitely be beneficial to your online business.
Here is a list of slide sharing websites that allow dofollow backlinks:
You don’t have to spend too much time creating your PowerPoint presentation. The length of your presentation doesn’t have to be very long either. It can be anywhere from 10 to 20 slides. If you write multiple blog articles on the same subject, you should create a single presentation on these topics. On the last slide of the PowerPoint, you should link to each of the blog articles you used to create the presentation.
I hope this article helped you learn about some simple methods you can use to create backlinks to your website. For the longest time, I never knew how to check whether a link was dofollow or nofollow. This is surely an important thing to know.
To check whether a link is nofollow or dofollow, you should right click on the link (or control + click if you are using a mac) and go to inspect. You should see something like this:
<a href=”https://yourwebsite.com” rel=”nofollow”>Your Website</a>
if there is a rel=”nofollow” then it is a nofollow backlink. Otherwise, it is a dofollow backlink.
Another simple way to check whether a link is nofollow or dofollow is by installing a Google Chrome Extension called NoFollow. This extension will automatically outline nofollow attributes with a red colored border.
