When you are about to launch a new website, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is probably the last thing on your mind. At this point, all you really want is to have your website up and running on the internet. You probably think that it’s too early to even start thinking about ways to drive traffic to your website. Unfortunately, this is the wrong approach to take. Some SEO experts say that the SEO process begins before the creation of your website and that it’s important to jump-start the SEO process beforehand. I couldn’t agree more.
It is critically important for website owners to do some pre-launch SEO. Doing this will help your website rank higher in search engines. Your website may not be on the first page of Google after doing the pre-launch SEO, but you’ll be one step closer to climbing your way to the top page of Google.

1. Choose an SEO friendly domain name
If you already have a domain name, there’s probably nothing you can do with this one. However, using the right SEO friendly keywords in your domain name can save you a ton of time when it comes to being noticed by search engines.
For example, if your website is about fashion trends include the words “fashion trends” in your domain name. A domain name that reads “www.stylisticfashiontrends.com” gives a lot more information than a website that reads “www.yourname.com.”
I’ve seen many bloggers choose a domain name that is not well representative of their blogging niche. If you’re a well-established brand, having your brand name be your domain name might work for you. However, this may not be the best strategy if you’re a beginner blogger.
Another very important aspect of choosing an SEO friendly domain name is to only include letters in the name. You want to choose a domain name that the readers of your website can easily remember. Adding numbers and symbols within domain names can make it more difficult for readers to remember the name of your website.
Search engines are more likely to show preference towards a domain name that reads “www.stylisticfashiontrends.com” rather than a domain name that reads “www.stylistic-fashion-trends1834.com.”
The last important aspect of choosing an SEO friendly domain name is to keep your domain name short, but meaningful. Try to keep your domain name anywhere from 1 to 3 words. Short domain names are easy to type and easy to remember.
2. Post at least 15 articles before official launch
The best kind of traffic is the organic kind because it’s the traffic you don’t have to work extra hard for. This is the kind of traffic in which search engines do all of the hard work for you and you reap all of the rewards.
To get this kind of organic traffic, you’re going to have to roll out fresh content on a regular basis. I recommend at least one article every week. This way the search engines will know that you’re not just blogging to write down your thoughts, but that you are a blogger who is in it to win it.
I also recommend having 15 articles in the queue that are ready to be published every week. This way, you’ll have an article ready to be published even during the week that you are extremely busy. The initial weeks of launching your website will probably be some of the busiest weeks, so having articles ready to publish is definitely a good idea.
There’s no shortcut to writing a high quality blog post. The article needs to be SEO optimized with the right keywords. The content within your article also has to be long-form. Long-form content simply means longer articles with a ton of content.
You might be thinking that nobody wants to spend their valuable time reading long-form content on the internet. You might also be thinking that you should just keep your content short, simple, and just get to the point. If you wish to keep your articles short and simple, they won’t rank very well in search engines.
There’s evidence that suggests that not only does long-form content get read by people, but it also ranks better in search engines and converts better than short-form content.
When you first start writing articles, it may seem impossible to write even a 1,000-word article. Rest assured, it will get easier with time. When you first start blogging, I recommend aiming for a 1,500-word article. If you can’t hit this limit at first, that’s okay. You’re still learning and you’ll eventually master the technique.
3. Start building your social media following
It’s never too early to begin building a social media following. As a matter of fact, it is essential that you begin building a community on social media before the launch of your website. This way you’ll already have a loyal following when you decide to launch your website.
The top social media platforms you may want to consider are Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and Google+. As a beginner, I recommend starting with Pinterest as your social media platform of choice because it is so easy to build up a royal following.

That social media platform is Google+. Google+ isn’t just another social media platform. The number of followers you get on your Google+ page can significantly boost your SEO. There are hundreds of thousands of websites launched each and every year by people who wish to make it big on the world wide web. Unfortunately, most of these people have no idea how to make their website successful. Most of these people have no idea what SEO stands for, or what it even means.
